we moved from lancaster a year ago, so have never managed to make it in, but we popped down to visit friends and i demanded we went for lunch!had 2 slices of pizza (one marguerita, one with parma ham and rocket, a coffee and a soft drink, under a tenner (very reasonable, especially considering how good it was), and both full! lovely friendly atmosphere, bruno and his staff were fab, really helpful and attentive - came home with a couple of jars of pasta sauce - also excellent! next time we're down, we'll be in, thank you!
Buccelli's is a fantastico mix of Café, Delicatessen and Ristorante. Run by the very lovely Bruno and Roberta and their staff, the experience is totally more than a little bit of Roma in Lancaster. I discovered Bruccelli's at Christmas, where I purchased some treats and some pesto, delicious. I returned yesterday for a short stop after Saturday shopping and a very welcome slice of freshly made pizza and a coffee to keep me going till dinner. Fantasic atmosphere and even had a little chat in italian, as I am learning it. Bruno told me about the Wednesday Conversation Café 4-6 where you chat Italian and have a coffee. Before I left I purchased an Apricot Crostata for breskfast.
The whole venue is beautifully decorated, warm and friendly. All the food and products on sale are authenic. Very good prices too. This really does give a home from home for bella Italia. My recommendation, simply go and keep on going. A real asset to our city. Liz (Elisabetta..il nome in Italiano). Grazie e lei.
The Romans are back in Lancaster! Not storming the Castle, but rather creating a fabulous flavour of the Eternal City through the newly-opened Buccelli's deli, cafe and sandwich bar in the city centre.
The business, in Church Street, is a dream-come-true for the owner, Bruno Buccelli, who left his home city of Rome to put down new roots here in North Lancashire.
Bruno has long cherished the thought of developing his own business, reflecting faithfully the cafes and delis that grace his birthplace.
Walking into Buccelli's is a when in Rome moment - do as they do and savour exactly the same sort of coffee, food and deli produce you will find in Rome itself.
The place is beautifully decorated and laid out with many excellent touches that seal its authenticity.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Cappuccino and hot chocolate, along with mouth-watering dunking biscuits.
This is a classy addition to the Lancaster street scene.
Salute!
